Disilgold: What can you tell the Disilgold community about yourself that will explain why Disilgold has sought you for a perSOULnalized interview?
Miasha: I am the author who wrote Secret Society, the hottest, fast-selling urban novel out right now. Everybody is talking about the secret and Disilgold stays up on the latest so it is no wonder you sought me out.
Disilgold: What is your latest book about?
Miasha: Secret Society is actually my first book and it's about two fly and flashy girls who hustle men for money, designer clothes, cars, homes, trips, jewelry--the works, but they have a shocking secret and once it's revealed all hell breaks loose.
Disilgold: How long did it take you to complete your book?
Miasha: It took three months.
Disilgold: What were the happiest moments you have experienced while writing your latest book?
Miasha: Hearing people's responses after reading bits and pieces. I got a kick out of people begging me for more. That's when you know your book is hot.
Disilgold: Describe your writing style?
Miasha: Raw--I don't believe in sugar-coating. Real--I tell it like it really is. Versatile--You don't have to say the same things to get the same response. All my stories are totally different, but they are all good books.
Disilgold:How did you develop your writing style?
Miasha: My writing style came natural. I've written the way I do since I can remember. I think it has a lot to do with my environment and the circumstances under which I was brought up. I saw things first-hand and that's what I deliver in my writing.
Disilgold: Do you have a favorite author of all time or someone who inspired you to achieve your goals as a writer?
Miasha: As both a poet and a novelist, Maya Angelou and Omar Tyree were definitely two authors I've always looked up to. But I have to say it was Karen E. Quinones Miller's speech at my Temple graduation that inspired me to actually write a book.
Disilgold: Where do you see yourself as a writer ten years from now?
Miasha: Well, at the rate I'm going now with all the support and recognition I'm getting already after only a month and a half that my first book been out, I see big things happening in ten years. I definitely see several movie deals, over a dozen books published, and I'll probably be publishing other authors as well.
Disilgold: What marketing tips can you provide to new authors?
Miasha: I know you've heard it before, but image really is everything. Make yourself seen and heard at every arena or event possible. It is never too early to start promoting and there is no such thing as too much promotion.
Disilgold: What other projects are you working on?
Miasha: My second novel Diary of a Mistress comes out this August so I am getting ready to start promoting it more and I'm planning a couple release parties for it. I just completed my third novel and I'm working on a fourth. You'll be hearing a lot from me.
Disilgold: What are your top ten favorite books right now?
Miasha: Secret Society, Diary of a Mistress, Coldest Winter Ever, anything from Omar Tyree, Karen Quinones Miller, Daaimah Poole, and Brenda Thomas. Oh and Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
Disilgold:When do you write and for how long?
Miasha:Almost every day and for about one to three hours per sitting.
Disilgold:Do you have a favorite location for writing?
Miasha: Not really. Wherever I get the inspiration to write that's where it happens.
Disilgold: What method did you use to write or organize your book?
Miasha: with Secret Society I named the chapters after months so I made something dramatic or shocking happen each month. With Diary of a Mistress, it was just a matter of keeping it suspenseful.
Disilgold: What three words best describe your writing style?
Miasha:like I mentioned above, raw, real, and versatile.
Disilgold: What other hobbies do you pursue when you aren't writing?
Miasha: Shopping, going to the movies, and decorating homes.
Disilgold: Are there any hidden jewels or talents that you possess that many of your readers may not know?
Miasha: People tell me I could be an interior designer. I love doing it and I must say I do it well, so that could be a talent.
Disilgold: Where can folks buy your latest book?

Disilgold:What have been some of your toughest obstacles as a writer?
Miasha:Honestly, none so far. I heard it was hard getting published, especially by a major publisher, but it wasn't for me. I heard the editing process is a pain, but it wasn't for me. I heard the hardest part was promoting and selling your book, but it hasn't been for me. (Knock on wood). I am truly blessed.
